Terms of Service
Effective October 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and CA Research Group LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). They cover your use of caresearchgroup.com, your private report link, and the reports we provide (together, the "Service"). By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service for a company, you confirm that you can accept these Terms for that company, and "you" includes that company.
1. What the Service is
CA Research Group compiles information from public government and court records into a PDF report. Depending on the request and on which sources are available at the time, a report may include:
- business entity records from the California Secretary of State;
- a screening against the U.S. Treasury OFAC sanctions lists;
- federal court and bankruptcy case records from public court databases;
- other public-record sources we add over time.
Each report states which sources were searched and which were not. Sources can change, go offline, or limit access, and we may add, change, or remove sources at any time.
2. What the Service is not
We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. Reports are not title searches, title commitments, title insurance, abstracts of title, appraisals, credit reports, or legal opinions. Reports are informational only. Verify any information against the original source before relying on it for a lending, investment, title, or legal decision.
Not a consumer report. We are not a consumer reporting agency, and reports are not "consumer reports" under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act or California law. You may not use the Service or any report, in whole or in part, to decide whether an individual is eligible for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose covered by those laws. The Service is for business-to-business research about properties, business entities, and transactions.
3. Your private link and account
- Each subscribing company gets a private report link. Anyone with the link can run reports on your plan, so keep it private and share it only with people at your company.
- You are responsible for all reports run through your link. Tell us right away if you think it has been shared or misused, and we will replace it.
- We may turn off or replace a link to protect your account or the Service.
- You agree to give us accurate contact information and keep it up to date.
4. Plans, billing, and cancellation
- Subscription. Plans are billed monthly, in advance, through our payment processor (Stripe). Your plan renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Report limits. Each plan includes a set number of reports per calendar month, shown on our pricing page. Unused reports do not carry over. A report that fails to complete on our side does not count toward your limit.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time online, using the "Manage or cancel your subscription" link on your report page or in your welcome email, or by emailing us. Your access continues until the end of the month you already paid for, and you will not be charged again. We do not give refunds or credits for partial months or unused reports, except where the law requires it.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may pause your link until the balance is paid.
- Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Taxes. Prices do not include any taxes that may apply.
5. How you may use the Service
Each time you request a report, you certify that you have a lawful business purpose related to a real estate, lending, title, or legal matter. You agree not to:
- use the Service for any purpose described in section 2 under "Not a consumer report";
- use any report to harass, stalk, threaten, or discriminate against anyone;
- resell, sublicense, or publish reports, or offer them as part of your own data product, without our written permission (you may share a report with your own clients, lenders, counsel, or partners on the transaction it relates to);
- use automated tools to run reports in bulk, copy our site, or get around plan limits;
- interfere with the Service or try to access systems or data you are not authorized to use;
- break any law that applies to you or to your use of public records.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
6. Accuracy and no warranty
Public records can be incomplete, out of date, delayed, or wrong, and the same name can belong to unrelated people or businesses. We report what the sources show at the time of the search, and we do not guarantee that a report is complete, accurate, or current. A report that finds no records does not prove that none exist. Our automated checks, including our two-step verification of entity records, reduce errors but cannot remove them.
THE SERVICE AND ALL REPORTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Limits on our liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS: (a) we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or losses from any lending, investment, title, or legal decision, even if we were told such damages were possible; and (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the three (3) months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
8. Your responsibility to us
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from your misuse of the Service or a report, or from your breaking these Terms or the law.
9. Ownership
The public records in a report belong to the public or to their original sources. We own the Service, our website, and the format, design, and compilation of our reports. While your subscription is active, you may download, keep, and use reports for your own business purposes as described in these Terms.
10. Third-party services
The Service relies on outside providers, such as government data sources, court databases, payment processing, email delivery, and hosting. We are not responsible for their availability or errors, and their own terms may also apply.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and email active subscribers before the change takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. Before filing a claim, each side agrees to try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally by email for at least 30 days.
13. Other terms
If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your subscription without our written consent. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
